Frequently Asked Questions
Here are the usual questions about Roofdog Design digital downloads, file access, printing, licence terms and general website faff.
Will I receive a physical product?
No. Roofdog Design sells digital download products unless a product listing clearly says otherwise.
After purchase, you’ll receive access to downloadable files rather than anything being shipped in the post. No envelopes, no courier limbo, no mystery parcel doing a tour of Hamilton first.
What file formats are included?
File formats vary by product. Product listings should say what is included, such as JPG, PNG or PDF files.
Please check the product description before purchasing to make sure the files will work with your software, printer, cutting machine or project.
How do I get my files?
After checkout, you should receive access to your download files through the checkout process, your order email, or your account area if you created one.
If something goes sideways and you cannot access your files, please contact me with your order number and the email address used at checkout.
Will I be able to access my downloads forever?
Please download your files promptly and back them up somewhere sensible, such as your computer, an external drive, or your own cloud storage.
Download access may not be available forever, especially if the website changes, products are retired, or technical systems are updated. If you lose access to a purchase, contact me and I’ll help where reasonably possible.
Can I print the files more than once?
For personal use, yes. You may print Roofdog Design files for your own personal projects as many times as you like.
For commercial use, please check the Licence Terms. The standard licence allows small commercial use for finished products up to the stated limit, as long as the original files are not resold, shared, uploaded or redistributed.
Can I use Roofdog Design products for commercial projects?
Yes, for small commercial finished products, within the limits of the Licence Terms.
In short: you can use the artwork as part of your own finished physical or flattened digital product, but you cannot resell, share, upload, redistribute, repackage, or give away the original files or anything that lets someone extract the original artwork.
Can I use the files for print-on-demand products?
Not as standalone artwork or lightly modified designs on print-on-demand marketplaces.
You may use a local printer or production partner to make allowed finished products for your own small business, but you may not upload Roofdog Design artwork as the main design for resale on platforms such as Spoonflower, Redbubble, Society6, Zazzle, Teepublic, Creative Market, Etsy digital downloads, stock sites, fabric-on-demand platforms, wallpaper platforms, or similar marketplaces.
If you want to use Roofdog Design artwork for a larger project or a use not covered by the standard licence, please contact me first.
Can I use freebies commercially?
Free downloads are covered by the same licence terms unless the freebie listing says otherwise.
You may use freebies in personal projects and allowed small commercial finished products, but you may not redistribute them, upload them elsewhere, include them in bundles, or offer them as your own download.
Can I edit the files?
Yes, for your own allowed projects. You can crop, recolour, combine, resize or otherwise adapt the files as part of your own finished design.
Editing the files does not transfer copyright or ownership of the artwork to you, and it does not allow you to resell or redistribute the original artwork or a lightly modified version as a design resource.
Can I use Roofdog Design artwork in logos or branding?
No, not where exclusive ownership, trademark registration, or sole brand rights are required.
Because Roofdog Design products may be sold to multiple customers, they are not suitable for logos, trademarks, or brand identities that need exclusive rights.
Can I use Roofdog Design files with AI tools?
No. You may not use Roofdog Design products, artwork, images, files or downloads to train, fine-tune, test, develop or feed artificial intelligence systems, machine learning models, datasets, image generators or similar technologies.
You may also not include Roofdog Design files in any dataset, scraping system, automated training process or AI asset library.
Do you offer refunds?
Because digital files cannot be physically returned, refunds are not automatic once a product has been purchased and made available for download.
That said, if a file is faulty, missing, corrupted, not as described, or you cannot access your download, please contact me and I’ll help sort it out.
Please read the Refund and Returns Policy for more detail.
What if I accidentally bought the wrong thing?
Please contact me. I review accidental purchases case by case, especially if you thought you were buying a physical product, bought the same product twice, or genuinely cannot use the file.
I can’t promise a refund in every situation, but I’m also not a monster. Well not a cranky one anyway.
Why do colours look different when I print?
Colours can vary between screens, printers, inks, papers and print settings. This is normal, although deeply annoying.
Please do a test print before producing large quantities or using the files for an important project. Printers do what printers do and sometimes that thing is unexpected!
How should I print planner printables?
Planner printables are designed to print at the size stated in the product listing. Many are set up for US Letter size paper, but some may also work on A4 depending on your printer and project.
If your print is coming out slightly too small, check your printer settings for options such as “scale to fit”, “fit to page” or “fit to printable area” and turn them off. Choose 100% or actual size where possible.
Different printers behave differently, because simplicity is boring.
Do you provide cut files?
Only if the product listing specifically says cut files are included.
Some files may work well for hand cutting or craft projects, but please check the product description before buying if you need a specific cutting-machine format.
Can I share the files with someone else?
No. Please do not share, email, upload, give away, copy, or redistribute the original files.
If someone else wants to use the files, please send them to Roofdog Design so they can download or purchase their own copy. Very glamorous. Very admin. Still necessary.
Where can I read the full policies?
Still stuck?
If you have a question that is not answered here, contact me at hello@roofdog.design or via the contact form.
Please include your order number if your question is about a purchase. It makes the admin a little less likely to melt my brain!
